Advancing Materials Processing: Bradley Pulverizer Expands Testing Capabilities at New UK Facility

The global materials processing industry is at a critical inflection point. As high-quality resources become scarcer, manufacturers are increasingly tasked with improving efficiency, recycling nutrients, and exploring alternative raw materials.

To meet these evolving challenges, Bradley Pulverizer is proud to announce the expansion of our modern materials processing laboratory at our new UK facility. This move represents a significant investment in our testing infrastructure, providing the specialized environment required to bridge the gap between proof-of-concept and industrial-scale production for a wide variety of applications.

Enhanced Precision Through Larger-Scale Testing

BP - Full UK Test Lab

One of the primary advantages of our new laboratory is the ability to conduct larger-scale batch testing for a variety of applications. Working at this larger scale provides several key benefits:

  • Representative Results: Generates data that more accurately reflects behavior in a full production environment.
  • Superior Process Data: Allows for more meaningful measurements, particularly during complex emissions analysis.
  • Accurate Simulation: Enables more precise modeling of how materials will react during continuous industrial processing.

Innovation in Sustainable Fertilizer Development

Much of our current research focuses on the industry-wide trend toward sustainable fertilizer performance. We are moving beyond century-old traditional processes to help clients explore innovative formulations.

BP - Test Lab ResultsOur expanded capabilities specifically support:

  • Alternative Raw Materials: Exploring the use of lower-grade phosphate rock and the repurposing of industrial waste streams.
  • Environmental Performance: Developing “on-demand” fertilizers designed to release nutrients gradually, significantly reducing the nutrient runoff that contributes to algae blooms in waterways.
  • Advanced Formulation: Testing the addition of process additives to optimize the final product or reduce emissions during manufacturing.

Classification Testing for Specialized Materials

Bradley Pulverizer Stainless Steel ClasifierScale classification testing is available in our standalone unit, the Windsifter Stainless Steel Classifier for hygienic or specialized applications, including high corrosion and low contamination processes. Fitted with a filter to achieve finer cuts or a cyclone for coarser cuts, classification testing can be performed to meet the following objectives:

  • Splitting of coarse and fines
  • Dedusting of chip material
  • Separation by bulk density

Constructed from stainless steel, our Windsifter SS classifier is ideal for testing of metal, carbon, mineral and specialty powders. With the capability to inert purge, explosive material testing is also possible.

Expanded Equipment & Safety

Lancaster Products-Laboratory Mixer-newThe new modern laboratory is divided into dedicated zones for specialized testing, including lab-scale milling, acidulation processing, classification, granulation and other testing activities including particle size analysis, moisture testing and calcining tests.

Two key additions have significantly upgraded our proof-of-concept testing capabilities:

  1. Lancaster K-1 Lab Mixer: As a powder mixer, this unit allows us to optimize mix and/or granulation formulations with high accuracy, ensuring lab results correlate closely with industrial processes and scale up to production quantities.
  2. Fume Cupboard: We have installed a state-of-the-art fume cupboard. This allows us to safely handle larger batch sizes.

Comprehensive Process Insights

At Bradley Pulverizer, we look at the entire process—from the moment material enters the system to the final product exit. Our lab offers comprehensive testing and development services to help customers design the optimal process for specific acidulation, classifying and granulations applications.
Whether you are looking to identify corrosion risks, maximize production efficiency, or solve complex handling challenges, our expanded UK laboratory provides the data-driven insights necessary to move your project forward with confidence.
